From the department of "Things that will be made out to be bigger than they actually are..."

Amazon.com just released a press release where they announced that on Christmas Day, for the first time ever, more books for the Kindle were sold than physical books.

This is already being tweeted and retweeted as a major event, but is it really? I mean, if it was gifted so often, wouldn't it make sense that on Christmas day, a device that lets you buy books directly from it would produce more sales than a website that you have to use your PC (or web-enabled device) to purchase from? Let's wait until a non-Christmas day has more Kindle book sales than physical book sales before we celebrate this as a major event in e-commerce.
